Our Work

01 / OUR AREAS OF WORK

What the Foundation does

Human of the World Foundation brings people together through care for life: for the person beside us, for nature, for animals and for the places we share.

01

Art, rehabilitation & development

We use music, visual arts and other creative practices in rehabilitation. We help people express what they feel, communicate and explore their abilities. We begin by paying attention to the person: how they feel, what they find difficult and what draws their interest.

02

Education & creativity

We offer classes and workshops and support learning and creative endeavours. We help people take an initial interest through to a finished work, a recording or a performance. Our team’s knowledge and professional experience help people create something of their own.

03

Mutual help & participation

We help people find one another, offer and receive help, and share their time, knowledge and skills.

04

Caring for the Earth

Protecting nature and the ocean, and helping animals, are part of the Foundation’s purpose. Cleaning a beach, caring for an animal or looking after the place where we live also express our attitude towards life. Our humanity becomes tangible in what we treat with care.

THE LIVING ARCHIVE

Our team has worked in Seychelles since 2018.

The Foundation was created in 2026. It draws on our team’s many years of musical, educational and cultural work in Seychelles.

Photographs, videos and posts preserve the story of this work: sessions, workshops, creative gatherings and the people who become part of it.

02 / THE IDEA

Peace as
a skill.

What is our inner state when we meet another person?

Notice what moves us

Sometimes we say yes when we want to say no. We stay silent when we have something to say. We do what others expect of us and lose sight of our own choices.

Choose how to respond

Sometimes we respond sharply to an ordinary question because we are tired or irritated. By noticing our own irritation before we answer, we can pause and say what matters without being rude.

A skill grows through practice

The brain can change in response to experience. Science calls this neuroplasticity. What we repeat helps shape our skills and habits. That is why sustaining attention, noticing emotions and choosing our response takes practice — deciding “I’ll be calmer from now on” may not be enough.

How does music work here?

Music engages attention, emotions and movement. Sometimes sound or the voice helps a person express what they cannot yet put into words.

Music therapy works with this purposefully. Rhythm, tempo, sound, voice, movement and attentive listening are chosen to suit each person’s goals and responses. This work can help reduce tension and develop ways of managing one’s inner state.

For Human of the World, caring for a person’s inner world is part of a culture of peace.

Awareness
Notice what moves us.
Dignity
No idea is greater than human life.
Responsibility
Choose freely and take responsibility for the consequences of our choices.

Seychelles Shares

Community help

Sometimes what we have is exactly what someone else needs right now.

Here you can pass on a useful item, share your time or skills, or ask for help. Everything is free.

THE MANIFESTO

A person is greater
than any label.

We barely know someone, yet we have already decided who they are. From a name, an accent, a single disagreement.

What might we hear if we set that judgment aside for a moment?

Dr. Archie BrainHonorary Scientific Advisor

Professional background: Doctor Art

OUR SCIENTIFIC ADVISOR

Dr. Archie Brain

Anaesthetist and inventor of the laryngeal mask.

You may never have heard of Archie Brain. But if you have had an operation under general anaesthesia, doctors may have used his invention — the laryngeal mask — to help you breathe. According to the Association of Anaesthetists, it has been used more than 350 million times worldwide.

The story of the invention

Archie met us in Seychelles in 2017 and came to know our work in music therapy. A deep friendship has connected us ever since. Over the years, we have become family to one another.

In 2026, Archie accepted an invitation to become the Foundation’s Honorary Scientific Advisor.

We share a conviction: knowledge gains human meaning when it becomes help.

MUSIC AND PAINTING

His music. His view of the world.

Our friendship continues through creativity, too. Archie writes his own songs, works on his singing and paints. Over our years of working together, we have recorded around 20 of his original songs.

Shandy
